Barbera – Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza DOCG
De nieuwste DOCG van Italië, enkel en alleen toegewijd aan Barbera uit de ‘cru’ Nizza te Asti. Asti is als een conca (schelp) met een perfect aspect, van oost naar zuid, waardoor Barbera hier perfect kan rijpen en een extra niveau van diepte en complexiteit verkrijgt. Denk aan een Shiraz uit Barossa, bijvoorbeeld!

100% Barbera aged for 18 months, six of which in large oak casks. Deep, lustrous crimson. Brooding, deep, sweet-savoury raspberry and cherry nose. The longer it sits in the glass the more depth it shows. Great purity of raspberry and cherry fruit on the palate carried by supple acidity and shot through by bitter-sweet, grainy tannins. Very long with savoury spice touches on the finish. 14.5% but with an elegant palate weight that suggests less alcohol than that. (WS) 17+/20
